Planetary Boundaries for Sustainability and Environmental Strategies
This workshop focuses on sustainability and environmental strategies and the potential contribution of the planetary boundaries concept to such strategies. The planetary boundaries concept now forms an integral part of several sustainability strategies, such as the Integrated Environmental Programme 2030 of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, the Finnish sustainability strategy and the sustainability strategy of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. This workshop builds on these experiences, discusses lessons learned, and identifies further ways to include the concept in environmental and sustainability strategies. It also reflects on lessons learned from the guardrail concept and how these can inform the discussion on planetary boundaries and sustainability strategies.
